greetings, movie buffs:.
i grew up with scary movies of the 1950s -- "the beast from 20,000 fathoms," "forbidden planet," "the thing" (howard hawkes).
in "the thing," the audience gasped when the men surrounding the ice-encased object proved to be circular: a flying saucer!

Greetings, Movie Buffs:
I grew up with scary movies of the 1950s -- "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms," "Forbidden Planet," "The Thing" (Howard Hawkes). In "The Thing," the audience gasped when the men surrounding the ice-encased object proved to be circular: a flying saucer! Expectant movie goers screamed when the Thing bolted from behind the opening door.
I recently viewed "Man of Steel" and "Pacific Rim." Elements of the two tales I enjoyed; however, the super special effects, particularly employed in fight scenes, just kept going and going and . . .
Less is more.
I'm glad I have the oldies but goodies on video tape.
Your thoughts?

there are some threads already on forum performance.
nonetheless, i wanted to post this:.
i decided to switch to my ie page and open up jwn there.
Hi Violia:
Since it worked once for you, this may not be the answer you seek: after inserting the youtube address on the JWN reply page, did you then click onto the chain icon to make the address clickable? As I stated in the OP, what worked on one browser, did not on another.
At this point, I continue to use IE, Chrome and Safari successfully on the forum and elsewhere.

"albert" was 55 years old, and the fifth-born of seven children.
i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.
the doctors said it was a heart attack.

did you decline out of fear?
decline because you hated doing demos?
accept the request graciously?
Greetings, Stand:
What comes first to mind is Brother Last-Minute. He invariably called an hour before the meeting to ask me and mine to do a demo. We did so initially, thinking he was in a bind; however, it became a habit with him and we asked that, in future, please give us sufficient notice.
When I had SM parts, I called my people early -- two hours before the meeting . . .
Welcome to JWN!

i was a chemical analyst.
i loved my job, and love chemistry.
i worked in a variety of fields such a pharmaceutical and industrial.
BTW: Jehovah did provide, so I believed, as whatever I needed came my way . . .
Could it actually have been serendipity? Chance? Coincidence? Our experiences are anecdotal and cannot prove anything conclusively.
Reality, yes, reality. . . .

I tought myself how to be a good teacher whilst pioneering.

Good point, Kate!
There were some positive aspects: we developed good habits, we learned discipline and we were encouraged to show genuine interest in the welfare of others. It helps if one is, by nature, a positive and caring individual. As a teacher, I did benefit from what I learned as a JW.
Now, to other pursuits!
Best.

special pleading is a form of fallacious argumentation and faulty logical reasoning.
it occurs when someone is exposed as wrong but rather than admit they were wrong they dream up some rather pathetic and weak excuse for why they are still correct.
one's pride is just too hurt to admit one is wrong.
You're welcome, eyeuse2badub!
We're all still learning.

"After the Judge's death, as World War II was ending and persecution against the Witnesses began declining, along with the attendant drop in news-media publicity, Hayden C. Covington told the author [of THE FOUR PRESIDENTS] that Fred Franz saw the prohibition against blood transfusions as a way to accomplish two things: to continue to publicize the religion, and to create an uproar in the community. This reaction would convince the membership they were being "persecuted" and "suffering for righteousness sake," a sure sign they were "in the truth."
According to Jerry Bergman, author of BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS: A HISTORY AND EVALUATION OF THE RELIGIOUS, BIBLICAL, AND MEDICAL OBJECTIONS, 1994, p. 5.
